Outfit of the Day - Casual Summer Little White Dress

I arrived back in Toronto after a week long vacation in Cuba on Saturday when I received a phone call from my favourite aunt in the world - my dad's youngest (and only) sister. She was requesting my photography skills (or lack there of =P) at her two kid's birthday event the next day. I could never say no to her and a buffet of Asian food (especially after a week long lacking the Asian goodies)! Couldn't believe how humid and hot it was so I made sure my outfit would keep me as cool as possible but still look dressy enough for a dinner. I didn't want an outfit that would restrict me in anyway to take photos so with all that in mind...

Outfit pieces:

Mendocino LWD
Simons thick brown waisted belt
H&M gold bangle with white and taupe detailing
Bittersweet silver bracelet
H&M studded pearl earrings

The dress is a very lightweight cotton with little holes on the upper half so it kept me fairly cool throughout the afternoon and evening. To keep the look simple I paired it with one of my favourite pair of summer sandals from Steve Madden in Blush Mult and my Gucci Sukey tote in beige/ebony. I didn't want to leave my hair down (buffet pigging out and all...) so I just put it in a simple side ponytail.

Thanks so my little sis for helping me take the photo above =) What is your go to outfit for a hot summer evening out? As always, Read. Comment. Share. Follow. <3

Travel - What to Pack for Cuba

As I have an eventful night planned tonight (as it is now past midnight) I won't have time to pack any other time than now. I ALWAYS pack last minute so this is considered "in advance" for me.  To help me out, I made a list on my iPhone throughout the day and pulled everything together on my bed before playing tetris and shoving it all in my luggage.

Just wanted to go over some essentials and tips when packing for all-inclusive trips down south. First and foremost is comfortable clothing and footwear. I love shorts for the summer paired with a simple pair of flip flops - super easy, super comfortable and super chic =) Below I have some of my go-to pairs of shorts and a simple pair of navy Tkees flip flops.  Paired with some fun, colourful, summer tanks or tees will be sure to be an easy go-to look.

(From top to bottom - white denim shorts from Forever 21, blue destroyed denim shorts from Hollister, white casual shorts from American Eagle and casual print shorts from H&M)

Like most girls I will find any excuse to buy a new cute bikini (for this trip I bought like four new sets). It's always safe to match but don't be afraid to mix and match especially with bright colours! Pack your favourite set of shades, beach towel and beach bag to carry all your poolside necessities. Of course that includes sunscreen, band aids and hand sanitizer. When choosing sunscreen, try to get a non-oil based one for your face so you don't clog up your pores. Make sure you re-apply sunscreen every 30-60 minutes to prevent looking like a lobster. Bring some after-sun lotion just in case you do get a little red after being out in the sun all day.

Other things you may want to bring:

  • a nice summer dress for a la carte meals where a dress code is usually in effect
  • a good book to read while by the poolside or by the beach
  • sneakers for excursions that may include longer walks
  • a face towel - not all resorts provide one apparently
  • a camera to capture all the fun moments
  • a power converter for your electronics
  • your PASSPORT and TICKETS!

CUBA ONLY:
  • exchange your money at the resort; don't bring US currency as you will get charged an extra 5-10% fee
  • exchange money as you need it as you won't be able to convert it back to Canadian after if you have leftovers
  • remember to save 25-30 Cuban Convertible Pesos to pay at the airport - they call it the "Exit Fee"

Time to shove all my stuff into my luggage...Off to Blau Varadero Resort in T-Minus 27 hours! See you all in a week!

Nail Look of the Week - Summer Pastels

Had a mani-pedi lunch date with two of my awesome co-workers today - just in time before my Cuba trip with the boyfriend on Saturday. Its been a long while since I've had my nails done professionally as I usually do them myself =) Definitely was relaxing and different getting them done by someone else!

Decided to stick with safe but summer-worthy hues this time. On my fingers I'm wearing OPI's Mod About You, a very cute soft pinkish-purple pastel. For my toes, I chose - Essie's Tarte Deco - one of my personal favourits. It's such a cute pastel coral! Corals are probably my favourite go-to hues for my summer toes =)

What are your go to colours for the summertime?

Outfit of the Day - Summer Floral

I had a dinner date with a good girl friend of mine at a restaurant in downtown Toronto called, "Toula" today. It was part of the Summerlicious event that runs annually in the city where you get the opportunity to try expensive cuisine for the fraction of the price. The menus are prix fixed and there is a set menu to choose from. The weather called for cooler weather in the evening so I wanted to make sure the outfit would account for that.

Outfit pieces:

Forever XXi sheer floral top
Garage bandeau
Garage faded pink skinny jeans
Marc by Marc Jacobs rose gold watch
Bittersweet silver bracelet

I paired it with a simple pair of Steve Madden flats in Blush Mult and my trusty Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Baby Aiden satchel. All in all, t'was a good night!
